Camping is fun for cooking too!!
 
Cooking outdoors isn't limited to the grill, for part of summer fun is the camping as well.
Campground cooking can be challenging, or simple, and with children along, it's best to keep it as
simple as possible. Here are a couple of recipes for surefire winners that will take care of everyone's hunger
without the mess of cooking or clean up to get in the way. Have Fun!

Foil Pak Dinner

1 large sheet aluminum foil
1 patty ground beef, seasoned with Italian herbs and spices
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 carrot, peeled and cut into chunks
1 potato, peeled and cut into chunks

Wrap all ingredients in foil pak and leave on hot coals approx 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Check meat and vegetables for doneness, continue cooking until vegetables are soft,
and meat cooked all the way through.

Remember to recycle!
 
Campfire Sloppy Joes
True to their name, Campfire Sloppy Joes are best eaten in your last best shirt...

Camfire Sloppy Joes

2# ground beef cooked and chopped
1 large can tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
2 Tbsp. Italian herb mix.
1 tsp. garlic

Cook ingredients together and simmer for 1 hour, or until
flavors are blended to taste. Serve over warm hamburger buns.
A fruit salad makes a great side dish to this recipe!

Spices and Herbs Make the Dish!
Herbed or spice salts or peppers can liven up any dish. Here is a recipe for herbed salt that
hopefully you will find helpful and tasty.

Mix finely chopped herbs (basil,marjoram,summer savory, thyme and lemon peel are good choices)
with Sea Salt or non Iodized salt. Bake gently until leaves are crumbly. Stir frequently to prevent
caking. You can also add pepper, garlic powder, onion powder or paprika to this mix.
